CURRENT NEEDS: Summer 2011 is under creation and our Creative Team is planning, recruiting volunteers, and accepting applications of interest from musicians and performance artists for this Season!
In addition to innovative musicians, each event will include festival-style performance artists along the line of fire artists, keeping in mind the type of space and the time of day.
CALL FOR MUSICIANS
We are in search of artists/groups who might like to be a part of this innovative event.
1. Motivated artists who don’t expect money but rather a way to connect with the community and share their music. Our intention is to help some new hopefuls form a following as well as to continue support of tried-and-true performers. A good deal of marketing will be done for Lake Wylie Music Fest and all artists involved will benefit from those efforts which include but are not limited to: website, e-news, print flyers, word-of-mouth, press releases. This website will include a professional page for each performer with the capability for audio and video clips and the potential for sale of merchandise and booking information. See the page currently up for The Wiggle Wagons as an example of what may be done.
2. Staging is on land at water's edge at a private home. Audience will be on water in boats. Friends of the house party will be allowed on land but others required to enjoy from afloat.
3. More novel/original ensembles rather than the usual rock set ups. At this point, we’re not stuck on a particular genre … eclectic options! We’d like folks to hear and understand the lyrics and enjoy the full sound rather than be blasted with noise. A professional sound system will be employed for all events.
4. As possible, it would be wonderful for musicians to involve the audience....perhaps with a sing-along portion of their performace involving participants in singing along with old folk songs, familiar contemporary tunes, fun and playful music of all kinds that folks will know!
5. We’re talking about the Second Saturdays in June, July, and August. The evening will start around 4pm. Dates are June 11, July 9, and August 13, 2011. September is under consideration.
6. The feel of the evening is relaxed, playful, fun, and active. There will be boats anchored out in the cove, folks grilling out, swimming, drinking, and a generally free-spirited Summertime energy. Early in the evening (say 4-6pm,) can have a more family-diverse feel while the overall event is mostly adult-oriented. Musicians will be expected to be charismatic, fun, able to energize a crowd.
Musicians can submit letter of interest and any promotional media (recordings, website, other,) to
