... and, as the Blue Brothers (considered co-creators of Lake Wylie Music Fest) say, “We’re on a mission from God!”
DEFINITION OF THE ARTS: The terms “art” and “artist” need a bit of definition as they are used in our mission. We’re not talking formal arts such as might be found at metropolitan museums or wear-a-tux scenes. We’re not referring to the studied and credentialed necessarily. We are focused on those people and creations that lead toward fun, playful, creative, expressive, innovative, down-to-earth, real, honest, roots, free-spirited, colorful, passionate, folksy, and unpretentious.
Lake Wylie Music Fest came simply from some of those kinds of conversations you have around a fire, over a glass of wine, out on a lazy evening boat ride, in the midst of inspiration. And once the idea was expressed, a certain Wylie magic caught hold of it and it grew and morphed and decided to be born!
The idea is simply this:
create a magical festival atmosphere for boaters to enjoy from the water
Many variations on this theme could be expressed but the creators are offering their personal private land and dock for stages, a place to see how this innovative idea might work. We're recruiting volunteer artists who are willing to co-create with us and try out this unique venue. We're handling all promotions and production. We're reaching out to you to get involved at some level, to come and enjoy the magic that we all create together!
It's a FLOATING FEST!
Performers will be at waters' edge. Audience will be on their boats.
Location of the Sunset Celebrations of Summer 2011 will be in a portion of Boyd's Cove known to some as The Cow's Cove because of the watchful cow who sits in a front yard. Along with Bessie the Cow, The Blues Brothers sit year-round on the dock ...they've been a decade-long warm-up act for the artists who will share their stage this Summer!
